Safeguard description:

Safeguard is a complex application which allows you to manage your Oracle databases backup process. Safeguard features options that allow you to quickly and easily specify backup options, initiate backups across a wide variety of operating systems and database versions, specify periodic backups according to schedule and finally report the status of operations over time.

Safeguard is specifically designed to restore and recover Oracle databases. A recovery situation such as a hardware storage failure is no time for a refresher course on RMAN recovery script syntax. Safeguard catalogs essential data dictionary views during the backup to allow for easy selection of recovery options such as datafile location, system change number (SCN), database initialization parameters, etc.
